The AirLINE process control system

The AirLINE process control system combines Bürkert pneumatic actuation, Rockwell Point-I/O and Fieldbus communication in a single modular flexible, space-saving process automation system.
AirLINE was developed by Bürkert for use within the process control industry, which in recent years has been incorporating I/O bus assemblies as part of the control packaging. AirLINE enables pneumatic valves to be connected directly to the rail mounted terminal block. In this way the pneumatic actuation modules become integrated with Rockwell's Point-I/O Bus-coupling module and the wide variety of digital and analogue I/O modules. Easy configuring and commissioning, simple operation and maintenance, space saving combination and fully flexible customisation combined with guaranteed low maintenance with proven 100million cycles durability are the key benefits. AirLINE is now also available with 16.5 mm, high flow modules. Full story:

Bürkert and Allan Bradley have a Strategic Marketing Agreement for the AirLINE Type 8644 remote process actuation and control system which offers an outstanding combination of ON/OFF and/or continuous valve functionality, Point I/O electronic input and output with Fieldbus connectivity, all on the same DIN rail mount assembly. Featuring a space-saving, modular "snap together" design, AirLINE allows for fully customised, pre-wired and pre-tested solutions that exactly meet customers' and system integrators' requirements for size, flow and performance.

AirLINE's digital and analogue input/output capability and Fieldbus connectivity supports nearly any process field device including limit and position switches, motor controls, and all types of fluid and gas control sensors/transmitters including flow, level, pressure, temperature and analysis. System integrators can specify a customized valve actuation solution for applications in the water treatment, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, biotech, pulp and paper processing, textile, chemical or semiconductor industries. AirLINE integrates established remote I/O technologies into Bürkert's control strategy, based on the concepts of Easy LINKT and Easy NETT. This further ensures high application flexibility, coupled with significantly lower system operating costs.

AirLINE simplifies Design, Installation and Maintenance Pre-configured with "snap together" pneumatic modules containing two or four valves each, the AirLINE valve module incorporates a pneumatic basic module, Point I/O electronic modules and high-performance 10mm and 16.5mm multi-way solenoid pilot valves. Bürkert pilot valve Types 6524/6526 (3/2 way) and 6525/6527 (5/2 way) consist of the proven Bürkert pilot rocker principle and a pneumatic seat valve. The rocker principle utilized in these valves is superior to spring plunger technology and has proven durability for over 100 million cycles. These valves allow high flow rates of 300 and 700 litre/min., operate from vacuum up to pressures of 10bar and require less power consumption.

Pneumatic valve actuation modules include left and right connector modules, end modules and intermediate supply modules. All are available with or without manometer in either threaded port or push-in connections. Because the I/O blocks are independent of the main bus system, a process application can be configured prior to the selection or without concern as to which main bus system is to be used. All I/O points may be selected, wired, and the system fully tested prior to selecting the bus coupler for the specific bus system. This system allows users to upgrade without having to implement major configuration or wiring changes. Engineers can make a change in the process without long periods of downtime caused by rewiring or re-programming.

Custom Systems with Easy LINKT and Easy NETT Contribute to Lowest Cost of Ownership
In addition to space savings, the AirLINE system saves costs by combining sensor, control and communication functions with a direct connection to the process valve via Bürkert's Easy LINKT. This design provides both decentralized intelligence and straightforward networking between all industry-standard devices in the system. Bürkert "Easy" networking can reduce total system cost of ownership by as much as 40%.
