The innovative research cooperation includes a shared lab known as the Bürkert Technology Center (BTC) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The BTC is based at the Institute of Microstructure Technology (IMT) at the Karlsruhe Research Center, which shares premises with the Faculty of Engineering of Karlsruhe University in Germany. The BTC cooperates not only in research but is also involved in teaching with its own lecture in optofluidics, which was first offered during the summer term 2008 as a module.
The BTC was officially opened at the IMT on 4 July by Mr Rohrbeck and Professor Saile, director of the IMT.
